Burlington Land Trust Case Study
Opportunity:
Founded in 1989, the Burlington Land Trust, a non-profit funded by memberships and donations, acquires, preserves, and protects scenic, natural, or historic lands for the benefit of present and future generations. However, despite their incredible mission, raising awareness, expanding their reach, and connecting with new generations remain key challenges.
Solution:
Seeing the need to connect the Burlington Land Trust's mission with more people, I joined the board as Director of Community Outreach. My first task was to improve our branding. While we had a good logo, we needed a cohesive brand identity to appeal to younger generations. After extensive market research, I led the creation of new branding with colors that represent youth, joy, happiness, and nature.
I'm currently in the process of updating the website, which is long overdue for a refresh as it hasn't been updated since 1989. Transforming it into a 21st-century platform is a significant project, but I'm thrilled to share the final product when it launches.
In the meantime, I'm actively managing the social media presence on Facebook and Instagram. From crafting engaging content and captions to fostering connections and community engagement, my aim is to significantly expand brand awareness for the Burlington Land Trust.

Outcome:
I continue working with the BLT to advance the land trust's mission through community outreach, managing the website and social media, and supporting them in every way I can.
A recent campaign I was part of was for CT Trails Day. Initially, the BLT was worried about attendance, but we were soon overwhelmed with interest. We had to turn off registration and even issued additional information asking unregistered participants not to show up. The event was a resounding success, drawing over 60 participants!
From the onset of our collaboration, our Facebook reach soared to 16.6k, marking an impressive 562.2% increase, and engagement has also seen a significant increase, rising by 102.6%. Our Instagram presence has similarly experienced remarkable growth, with reach increasing by 395% and engagement skyrocketing by 735.3%. These figures highlight our strengthened connection with our audience and the increased interest in our content. The data underscores the positive impact of the new strategies I’ve been implementing and the substantial support from our community.
As I continue with the BLT, my focus is centered around better connecting with our local community so everyone knows who we are and what we do. I'm excited to keep working with the team, strategizing new campaigns, and finding innovative ways to tell the land trust's story.
