Case Study: Burlington Land Trust
What We Support
Website Redesign
Social Media Management + Community Outreach
THE CHALLENGE
The Burlington Land Trust has protected scenic, natural, and historic landscapes in Connecticut since 1989. Despite their vital conservation work, they faced a major challenge: limited visibility—especially among younger community members.
With an outdated website, no cohesive visual identity, and minimal digital presence, the organization was struggling to connect with the next generation of supporters and trail users. Their mission was strong, but their online presence didn’t reflect it.
OUR APPROACH
As both a board member and marketing strategist, Caitlyn Grad stepped in to lead a full visibility refresh. Through her agency, Caitlyn Grad Marketing was hired to redesign the website while also volunteering to build and manage the land trust’s social media presence.
Our approach included:
Designing a modern, mobile-friendly website to improve navigation, event promotion, and donations
Creating a refreshed visual identity that captured the spirit of joy, nature, and community
Implementing a community-first content strategy across Facebook and Instagram
Promoting seasonal campaigns like CT Trails Day to increase turnout and local engagement
Building momentum through educational posts, local events, and campaign storytelling
The goal was not just modernization—but deeper community connection across generations.
THE IMPACT
In just a few months, the Burlington Land Trust saw a meaningful increase in online visibility and community engagement:
Social Media Growth
Facebook reach up 562.2%
Facebook engagement up 102.6%
Instagram reach up 395%
Instagram engagement up 735.3%
Campaign Highlight: CT Trails Day
Event registration exceeded expectations
Increased participation by over 280%
Signups filled so quickly the form had to be closed early
Successful activation of both new and longtime supporters
By combining professional strategy with grassroots outreach, Caitlyn Grad Marketing helped position the Burlington Land Trust as a visible, approachable, and forward-facing nonprofit—while staying rooted in its conservation legacy.
